Originally charged with attempted murder but following the woman's death charges were upgraded to murder.

The force said officers would be around the city centre on Monday to offer reassurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses who might have observed the accused, who is described as a Black British national, reportedly dressed in grey athletic wear, black hat, trainers with a backpack.
Incident Location
The knife attack occurred outside the Bullring shopping centre, opposite the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station.
Law enforcement confirmed they were treating it as a random violent act and Det Insp James Nix said they were working to understand the motive behind.
Witness Accounts
An area worker, who works nearby, recounted the emergency response after completing her shift around 10 PM Friday night.
She characterized the location as extremely disorderly, adding that co-workers reported hearing a commotion at about 21:00.
"Many my colleagues take public transport, take the tram... our safety is at risk essentially, here in the city centre."
Another individual, twenty-five, from Stoke-on-Trent, said he came the city quite frequently to see his girlfriend resident there, expressing concern regarding the incident.
"It causes concern for my girlfriend," he said.
"She doesn't drive and works at all of the big music venues... considering a totally random act [happened], you know, it's terrible."
